Celebrating 50 Golden Years
of Hand Surgery in India

Constitution

This constitution was drafted because a need was felt to modernise the old constitution more in line with current needs and requirements. It was done by president elect Dr Mukund Thatte in 2020 and 2021 with invaluable help from the then Hon Secretary Dr Pankaj Ahire and passed by the General body in ISSHCON 2022 in Jaipur.

As mandated by the General Body of the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand at its meeting held at Chandigarh in September 2023, it was resolved to separate the Articles of the Constitution from its annexures and to develop the annexures into a comprehensive operational guidance document, subsequently titled the ISSH Blue Book. This resolution entrusted the responsibility of compiling and consolidating all operational processes of the Society into the Blue Book to the ISSH Secretary, Dr Anil K. Bhat. The final version of the ISSH Blue Book was presented at the EC meeting on 9 September 2025 during ISSHCON 2025 at Mumbai and, following detailed deliberations, was approved for submission to the General Body. On 10 September 2025, the Blue Book was placed before the General Body and was unanimously accepted as the official operational guidance framework of the ISSH Constitution.
